Area Manager – Safari Europe & Africa at Kolmårdens Djurpark
As Area Manager for Safari Europe & Africa, you will be responsible for an operation where animal welfare, engaged employees, and memorable guest experiences go hand in hand. About the roleAs Area Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Safari Europe and Safari Africa. You will lead the day-to-day operation with full accountability for budget, performance, and continuous development, while creating the conditions for engaged employees, outstanding animal welfare, and world-class guest experiences. You are a visible and approachable leader who builds strong teams and drives the business forward. You will report to the COO of Animals, Research & Education.
In addition, you will ensure appropriate staffing, a strong safety culture, and a healthy work environment, with a particular focus on safety procedures and follow-up.
You will lead two direct-report Shift Managers and a permanent team of six employees. During the peak season, the operation expands with approximately six seasonal employees. You will work closely with the COO, fellow Area Managers, and other key functions across the park.
Your profileYou are a confident leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You are passionate about developing both people and the business, and you see clear communication as a natural part of your leadership.
We are looking for someone who has: Several years of experience in operational leadership with responsibility for business operations, budget, and financial results, including experience leading other managers. Experience in leading, coaching, recruiting, and developing both employees and leaders. Experience in operational management, resource planning, and business development. Experience in enhancing guest experiences and employee engagement using relevant performance metrics. Several years of experience in animal care and animal husbandry. Upper secondary education in animal care, animal management, hospitality, tourism, or equivalent experience. Fluency in English. If you do not speak Swedish, you must have the motivation and a genuine willingness to learn the language. It is an advantage if you also have: Post-secondary education in leadership, management, business administration, or a related field. Employment detailsThis is a full-time, permanent position with a six-month probationary period. The preferred start date is 1 October 2026, or as agreed.
The role is primarily based during daytime hours. However, as our guests and animals are with us every day of the week, evening and weekend work may be required.
Employment is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Gröna arbetsgivare and Unionen. Salary will be agreed upon individually.
